Forgot to blog last night, oops. Anyway, let me tell you about yesterday. It was a good day! We wandered around in the neighborhood of Trastevere, named presumably after Saint Maria of the same, who had a really pretty little basilica in the narrow backalleys. Outside the Basilica de San Francesco we got to see a seagull kill and disembowel a pigeon, which was pretty cool! Also hilariously inefficient, because seagulls are really not made for this task. Oh yeah, and there was some really excellent graffiti there of which I am excited to post pictures.
After that we went up a large hill, on top of which was some kind of monument that had ROMA O MORTE (I translated this as Rome Or Bust) written on it, and another Spanish embassy. From there we walked to Saint Peter’s Basilica, which had incredible detailing. The floor gratings were worn shiny on the top, but you could see that once upon a time the artisan who had made them had carefully stippled every inch with loving detail. Plus! You could see the floor below through them! I spent a good twenty minutes peering into floor gratings. They are just… so grate. (/shot)

Then we caught a taxi back to Piramide and lolled around at home for a few hours before going to a bar, whose owners when we arrived were a block down the street eating pizza. We thought the bar was closed, but it turned out we just needed to get someone to unlock it (they always keep their bar locked, even when they are actually in there. this is for tax reasons). It was a total drag but my dad had unreasonable amounts of fun talking to the one bartender who spoke English. He said it is his favorite place ever. But then! we went to a vegetarian/seafood restaurant called Zenzero, whose grilled tofu is AMAZING. AMAZING!
But we are going to fly home today, and arrive in a very tonighty fashion. This is good, in fact, excellent, because I like being home. u_u See you soon!
